Veni, Vedi, Vici- A Biography of Julius Caesar

“Veni , vedi, vici” are the famous words spoken by Julius Caesar when he took control of Egypt. In Latin they mean “I came, I saw, I conquered.”  He was ambitious, a great orator, he called his men comrades and was a great leader. Plus he cared about the plebeians.

Gaius Julius Caesar was born on July 12, 100 BCE in Rome to a noble family. He married Cornelia at the age of 16 and later had a daughter named Julia! Isn’t that cool? Julius Caesar was captured by pirates when he was a young man and his family had to pay a ransom or Julius Caesar would be killed. After he was set free,

Julius Caesar raised an army and crucified the pirates. In 58 BCE Caesar raised an army to conquer Gaul and it made him rich and powerful. But it also made a lot of enemies like Pompey.

Then in 48 BCE he went to Egypt in pursuit of his enemy Pompey. Ptolemy XIII had Pompey beheaded to get Julius Caesar on his side, but that made Julius Caesar mad so he attacked the city. Ptolemy XIII would not let his sister Cleopatra talk to Caesar.
She hid herself in a rolled up rug and in front of Julius Caesar she unrolled herself. He fell in love with her that night. Ptolemy saw that they were ruling together and felt sad that he could not rule any more. Months later Cleopatra had a baby named Ptolemy XV or Caesarian. Then Caesar and Cleopatra went back to Rome. He declared himself dictator for life, but that made some of the senators mad. So on the Ides of March they swarmed around him and stabbed him to death.

Finis(that means the end in Latin)

How to do it project: How to Make a Stress Ball

How to Make a Stress Ball

What you need to use

½ cup of flour
2 large balloons
A funnel
A pair of scissors
A Spoon

1. Fill up one balloon with air to expand the balloon and release the air.

2. Use the funnel to fill the balloon with flour. My trick is to take a spoon and pour a little flour.   I tap the funnel until all the flour is in the balloon. If you add to much flour it will get clogged up and you will have to unclog it with a stick or something.

3. Tie the balloon,  then cut the top off.

4. Cut off a half of an inch off the second balloon.

5. Finally, I inserted the second balloon over the flour balloon. I put the knotted end in first and now you have a stress ball! Good job!

Tell me how it goes! Thank you. Comments would be greatly appreciated!

My Personal Narrative: The Trojan War

When I was in the wooden Trojan Horse, I heard the mean Trojans partying up a storm outside.  They had no idea that they were going to die that night! The Trojans went to bed and we snuck out of the Trojan Horse. Then we opened the tall city gates and let the angry Greeks in. The Greeks fought the Trojans, and meanwhile I ran to the palace. As soon as I open the door I saw some guards. There were two of them, but lucky me, I was the best fighter on the planet!

I fought them and won the fight. I ran upstairs and I saw Queen Helen. I told her that I came to save her, so we both ran downstairs.  As soon as we ran out of the palace, we ran to the Trojan Horse.   We were blocked by the fighting that was still going on! I fought with my buddies and we won the battle. Then we burned the city to a crisp and sailed home with Helen. Many men were killed on the way. Why? There was a horrible thunderstorm.  Every time a lightening bolt hit a ship or a person I would say, ” Zeus did it.” And every time a ship got destroyed I would say, “Poseidon did it.” Then we saw Sparta, we were home! After 10 years of war, we were ready to rest. All of my buddies and I went to our families.  And Helen returned to her family and I felt happy for her.

The End

Welcome To Rover's World!!!!

Hi!!! I am Rover, I am 8 years old and I was born in Alaska.  So that makes me an Alaskan Boy!  I get to do a lot of awesome Alaskan things! Like snow machining,  it can feel like a roller coaster on the hills and fishing for halibut in Valdez, Alaska.

I have always been home schooled, don't ask me my grade, it is complicated.   I want to be a computer game programmer when I grow up. Minecraft is my favorite video game because you can make things on it like huge castles and a pirate ship made totally out of diamonds.

My hobbies are learning about science and my favorite subject is chemistry. I LOVE to read!  Right now my favorite books are Hank the Cowdog, Asterix and Plants vs Zombies.  In the summer I like to climb trees, ride my bike  and boating because it is fun to go some where new.  In the winter it is fun to go sledding and building snow forts.

Alaska is very, very, very beautiful. The mountains are very good-looking.I LOVE the view in the morning!!!!!
